JULY UPDATE

One of the charming qualities of The Beer Engine is the atmosphere. The chatter from the bar, the shoulder to shoulder drinking, the interaction with the staff. During the summer months, crowding in the sunshine and squeezing up on the balcony.  In the winter, warming your legs in front of the fire. It is groups of friends, families young and old, sports teams, seasoned locals all mixed in together that makes this village pub tick. It is without question, a very sociable place.

We now have been thrust into a world where all of that has been taken away, we are not bemoaning it because there isn’t anything we can do about it and everyone is in the same boat. Having said that, we are not yet ready to enter the new world. Our premises are not designed to keep people at 1m distance. We must consider our levels of operation and work out how to keep trading both practically and safely.

We are going to take some time off to make key decisions to ensure the long term future of The Beer Engine beyond July and the summer. We feel there is a very long winter ahead. We ask for your patience during this time and hope you can appreciate our decision.

Many thanks for all your support and kindness, it really has been overwhelming and comforting for us both. We look forward to welcoming you back to the “New Norm Beer Engine” in a few weeks time.
